Classification by slider movement

According to the movement mode of the slider, there are single-action, double-action, three-action punches, etc., but the single-action punch with one slider is the most used today. Classification by slider drive mechanism

(1) Crank Press

Presses that use crankshaft mechanisms are called crankshaft punches, crankshaft punches, and most mechanical punches.

Use this agency. The reason why the crankshaft mechanism is used the most is that it is easy to manufacture, the lower end position of the stroke can be correctly determined, and the movable curve of the slider is basically suitable for various processing. Therefore, this type of stamping is suitable for punching, bending, drawing, hot forging, warm forging, cold forging and almost all other punching processes.

(2) Crankless Press

Crankless punch, also known as eccentric gear punch, eccentric gear punch. The measurement of the functions of the crankshaft punch and the eccentric gear punch is shown in Table 2. The shaft rigidity, lubrication, appearance and maintenance of the eccentric gear punch are better than the crankshaft, but the disadvantage is that the price is higher. When the stroke is long, the eccentric gear punch is more beneficial, and when the stroke of the special punching machine is short, the crankshaft punch is better. Therefore, the small machine and the high-speed punching punch are also the field of the crankshaft punch.

(3) Knuckle Press

Those who use the toggle mechanism on the slider drive are called toggle punches. This type of punch has a unique slider movement curve where the slider speed becomes extremely slow (as measured by the crankshaft punch) near the bottom dead center. And it also correctly determines the bottom dead center position of the stroke. Therefore, this type of punch is suitable for compression processing such as embossing and finishing, and is most used in cold forging today.

(4) Friction Press

A punch that uses a friction drive and a screw mechanism on a track drive is called a friction punch. This type of punch is most suitable for forging and crushing operations, and can also be used for bending, forming, stretching, etc. It has the function of versatility. Because of its low price, it was widely used before the war. Due to the inability to determine the end position under the stroke, poor machining accuracy, slow production speed, overload when the control operation is wrong, and the need for skilled technology to use, it is gradually being eliminated today.

(5) Screw Press

Those who use a screw mechanism on the slider drive mechanism are called screw punches (or screw punches).

(6) Rack Press (Rack Press)

The rack and pinion mechanism used on the slider drive mechanism is called a rack punch. Spiral punch and rack punch have almost the same characteristics, and their characteristics are roughly the same as those of hydraulic punch. In the past, it was used for extrusion, oil pressing, baling, and the extrusion of cartridge cases (thinning process between hot), etc., but it has been replaced by hydraulic presses, unless it is very special. is no longer used outside of the circumstances.

(7) Link Press (Link Press)

A punch that uses various linkage mechanisms on the slider drive mechanism is called a linkage punch. The purpose of using the link mechanism is to keep the drawing speed within the limit during the drawing process, while reducing the processing cycle, and using the speed change of reducing the drawing process to speed up the approaching stroke from the top dead center to the processing start point and from the starting point. The speed of the return stroke from the bottom dead center to the top dead center makes it have a shorter cycle than a crankshaft punch to improve productivity. This kind of punching machine has been used for deep drawing of cylindrical containers since ancient times, and the bed table is narrow, but it is used for the processing of automobile body panels, and the bed table is wide.

(8) Cam Press (Cam Press)

A punch that uses a cam mechanism on the slider drive mechanism is called a cam punch. This punch is characterized by a well-made cam shape to easily obtain the desired slider movement curve. However, due to the nature of the cam mechanism, it is difficult to convey a large force, so the punching capacity of this kind of punch is very small.
